Last Saturday trials were held for the three new Kent Netball
Academies, which have replaced the U14 County Squad. These first
three academies, taking 20 girls each, are to be based in SE
London, Medway and Canterbury with the aim of developing strong
skills rather than matchplay. This is following the England Netball
recommended structure for the development of young players.
The amazing number of 220 girls attended the trials!
The girls were assessed on physical skills and ball skills
before an initial sift at lunchtime. In the afternoon the remaining
girls were assessed on their play during short games. The selectors
were pleased with the high standard of the girls who attended
trials.
Congratulations to all the following Telstars girls who were
selected: Megan Brown, Katie Harvey, Linglee Mak, Lydia Meakins,
Alice Newman, Sophie Parkin, Beth Rowan, Rebecca Smith, Sarah
Taylor, Ellie Willan, Laura Wilson.
