Telstars back into Premier League

After three years of rebuilding, Telstars have finally made it back into the Premier league.

On the weekend of the 30th April, Telstars headed to Loughborough for the Premier 3 play-offs.

They started the campaign on Saturday with matches against Blue Tits and YWCA Bury and the final game of their group was to take place on Sunday morning against the existing Premier side Chester. The winners and runners up of this group would then have the opportunity to enter the knock out for a position in the Premier League.

Telstars first match against Blue Tits couldn't have gone better. All the squad played a part in what was a convincing win 51 -32.

Next up was YWCA Bury who looked to be a far stronger team. However the Telstars squad were taking no prisoners, they won 66 - 35 in what was probably one of their best performances this season. That night they were fortunate to be booked into a lovely hotel and could relax and unwind ready for the next day.

Two of their squad were able to join them following their Super League matches and further strengthen the existing squad.

The penultimate game against Chester was a tricky one. Telstars wanted to win in order to go through as the winner of the group, but equally Chester were just as determined. The game was played with a much more cautious approach, but yielded the right result for Telstars and the score line appeared as convincing as previous games had been, 60 - 30.

Being winners of the group Telstars were then to play the runners up of the other group, which was Elmdon, yet another existing Premier team. When everyone should have been tired and flagging , the Telstars squad pulled on all of their resources and played an amazing final game. The whole team defended superbly throughout the match, forcing Elmdon to commit errors and intercepting their passes. The shooters on both sides kept their teams in the game, but ir was the determination of the Telstars defence that won through in the end, final score of 58-42.

Superbly won girls and many thanks to Laura and Debbie for helping Anita stay calm!!!
