National Coach of the Year 2009 - Anita Hollman
England Netball use the Goalden Globe Awards to recognise outstanding achievements and dedication from volunteers who ensure that netball continues to thrive as the top women's sport in England. This year they hosted these awards at the Hinkley Island Hotel in Leicestershire. A fabulous venue and what turned out to be a brilliant evening. London and South East region had some nominations for the different categories of the National Awards and much on the lines of the Oscars, one of the nominees in each category is selected as the National winner. The quality of nominations for each of the categories highlights the outstanding work that volunteers undertake. The Coach of the Year Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the development and progression of netball athletes. For those of us who have been around Telstars, it comes as no surprise that Anita has fit that bill so well. She works tirelessly for the Club, County and most recently the region. She is passionate about her netball and has enjoyed success with her club, winning U16 National Clubs in 2004, encouraging individuals to reach their full potential through the talent programmes and of course recently winning the National Talent League when coaching Brunel Hurricanes NTL last season. I could probably go on with more accolades supporting her winning of the award, but I think her successes speak for themselves. Brilliantly well done and well deserved Anita. We are all very proud of you. Congratulations must also go to Marlene Wander who was the National Award winner for the Rose Award. This award is given to a volunteer that has made an outstanding achievement to England Netball by promoting and developing netball to a wider audience. Like Anita, Marlene works tirelessly with Sabina, her club, she set up and now runs the Coldharbour Junior League, organises the inter-Island Tournament as well as being chair person for Kent Netball and all that is involved in that!! Another well deserved National award winner. Two national award winners in one county is quite an achievement. Congratulations also to other nominees from London and SouthEast region. Lynne Gray was nominated for the grassroots coach award Lucy Mitchell nominated for the Young Volunteer Award Brenda Horne nominated for the Mary Bulloch Administrator Award Roger Perham received a Long Service Award |
